Take a look at some of the things PYP 3 has been learning throughout their Art Unit!
Nature in Art:
Photography:
Children had the visit of Kris Knack, a professional photographer. She showed some of her work and explained how photography can also be a form of art.
Then they had the chance of putting their learning into action.
Abstract vs Realism art:
They practiced still drawing of some arranged objects...
...and experimented creating their own abstract paintings
Painting on textured surface:
Mr. Concagh visited PYP 3 and showed the
students how he worked on his paintings
using textured surfaces.
They were then encouraged to express their ideas using a variety of colours.
Crafting:
PYP 3 Beta also had the opportunity to visit the secondary art room and have a lesson with Mrs Wilson on crafting.
They had help from some secondary students to create decorative shoes
First they used strips of cardboard to make the mold of the shoe...
...then they covered them with strips on newspaper dipped in glue...
... after that they covered the shoe one more time with white tissue paper...
...once dry they took them to the classroom and were able to paint them and decorate them.
They were encouraged to add colours and patterns to their model.
Doodling:
PYP 3 also had Mrs Eretsky's visit. She showed them some of her art work and talked about some of the techniques she likes to use.
Later the children had the opportunity to try their own doodling with black lines and curves...
